The Portal Tarot - Born from impulse, synchronicity and truth.

The origins of Tarot are not taken into consideration with the creation of the Portal Tarot. The deck was not designed based on any of the existing historical theories or traditional themes. It simply unfolded as an exploration of the archetypes. David and I shared in our common experiences albeit from completely different perspectives, in creating the deck. We each hold different yet parallel views of what defines each separate archetype. That's the power and beauty of Tarot - it defies differences in individual details regarding our unique experience via the commonality of human experience. We all experience the same human conditions; fear, pain, joy, love, but each in our own unique way. However, we do agree on a common definition for the term archetype:

A representation of human experience as characterized by symbols that are universal to humanity.

Our Portal archetypes represent the human experience, the same as all Tarot decks. Like them, each card or combination thereof, tells a story about the leg of the particular journey we are on. However, we view the Portal Tarot as a deck to be used in self-exploration - more meditative in nature, rather than as a tool for divination. Subsequently, our philosophy and card descriptions focus on this role. However, the cards don't belong to us...they belong to all of us. We hope that they will help you on your journey in whatever form you use them.
